Sentiero Italia represents one of the most ambitious and fascinating projects in the Italian hiking landscape.
A route that crosses the entire Peninsula, embracing mountains and valleys, coastlines and plains, historic cities and hidden villages. This extraordinary adventure was made possible thanks to the support of the many sections of the Club Alpino Italiano, a historic institution that for over a century has been dedicated to promoting mountain culture and safeguarding the Alpine and Apennine environment.
“Sentiero Italia CAI” is a multifaceted project: it is not only about the route itself — the longest in the world — its maintenance and promotion, but about a broader vision.
A participatory project designed to attract diverse and varied interests, a hub around which initiatives can converge to stimulate the economy of Italy’s mountain areas, promote their traditions, craftsmanship and natural heritage in a renewed and dynamic way, and foster a new, shared and cross-cutting culture.

With its 8,000 km, Sentiero Italia is not only a physical route, but above all an emotional, cultural and historical journey. It winds through 20 regions, 16 UNESCO World Heritage Sites and numerous national and regional parks. Every step carries a story, every stage offers unforgettable emotions.
