Statistical measurement tools exempt from consent

The website uses Web Analytics Italia (WAI), the web analytics platform developed by the Agency for Digital Italy (AgID) for the websites of Italian public administrations and bodies of public interest.

The tool is based on Matomo software and is used solely to obtain aggregated statistical information about the use of the website, in order to improve its content and structure.

WAI is configured so that it does not require the user’s prior consent, because:

the user’s IP address is anonymised;
data are collected and stored exclusively on technological infrastructure managed by AgID, within the European Union;
no user profiling is carried out;
data are not shared with third parties nor used for advertising or marketing purposes;
the information produced is exclusively statistical and aggregated.

For these reasons the tool is comparable to a first-party analytics cookie used for statistical purposes, for which applicable legislation and the guidance of the Italian Data Protection Authority do not require prior consent.

Users may in any case object to the processing by writing to the addresses indicated in the Privacy Policy, or by enabling the “Do Not Track” setting in their browser, which WAI honours.
