SI R16

A medium stage with a gentle elevation gain that heads north through the Monti della Daunia. From Orsara di Puglia, the route follows the ridge dotted with wind turbines up to Monte Calvello and continues with a rolling path on a dirt road near the summit of Monte San Vito. From here, a descent leads to the little valley at the base of Faeto, where a short climb takes you to the village. Faeto is one of the two places in Puglia where a dialect of Franco-Provençal origins is still spoken today. The spread of such dialects remains unclear, likely dating back to migrations from Gallo-Romance regions between the late 13th and 15th centuries.
