Bivacco Arnaldo Bellani

N/A
The Bivacco Bellani is a structure located on Mount Penello, in the territory of Genoa. The bivouac, which was in a state of disrepair, has been renovated by the CAI - ULE subsection of Sestri Ponente. The structure, a former German powder magazine that had previously been used as a hiking shelter, has been revitalized through the efforts of many volunteers, including the addition of external furniture (benches and table). Since its inauguration in 2015, the bivouac has been made available for use by numerous hikers, who increasingly visit the area. Some testimonials can be read in the guestbooks available inside. The bivouac is equipped with a stove, a table, benches, and LED lighting powered by a small solar panel. Unfortunately, there are no mattresses or blankets because the lack of water and continuous oversight would not allow for proper maintenance. Additionally, firewood for the stoves is hard to come by on site since the continually worsening access road no longer allows for off-road vehicles to supply the wood shed. Drinking water can be found 15 minutes downhill at the spring known as “Fontanin da Scaggia.” The bivouac is always open and, within the limits of available resources, is maintained by the CAI - ULE subsection of Sestri Ponente.
